Popis: | 1s-1s electron transfer and K-shell ionization cross sections of adenine (C5H5N5) molecule have been measured in collisions with C and O ions in the energy range of 2.5–5.3 MeV/u. These cross sections have been measured from the study of KLL Auger electron yields as a function of projectile charge state. The K-ionization cross section data have been compared with the ECUSAR calculations [ECPSSR model with the perturbed stationary state (PSS) effect calculated in a united and separated atom (USA) approximation]. The K-ionization data shows a good agreement with the model whereas the K-K transfer cross section is underestimated by the same model. Energy dependence of the K-K transfer cross section for adenine is found to be flat compared to that for N2 gas molecules. The values of the K-K e− transfer and the K-ionization cross sections are found to be comparable in this energy range. |
