New haemostatic technologies; has conventional ligation become obsolete?

Popis:	Technological advances in haemostatic methodology have provided the surgeon with a number of alternative methods for achieving haemostasis. The recently developed vessel seal technology appears to be advantageous compared with conventional ligation because it shortens operating time and decreases blood loss, and may therefore be cost saving. Although suturing is still widely used in contemporary surgery, new haemostatic technologies are a serious threat to the conventional method.
