Nanomaterials have significantly superior thermal, mechanical, optical, and transfer properties which makes them an attractive research topic. The nanofluids have a wide application range from manufacturing to energy generation to medical applications. In this chapter, the fundamental mass transfer mechanisms of nanofluids are discussed. Some common observations of the nanofluids are studied from the perspective of mass transfer properties of colloids. The effects of concentration, temperature, particle size, and shape are considered. The mass transfer mechanisms for different processes are reviewed. The challenges in research, specifically in the experiments and the numerical analyses are discussed. Finally the opportunities for potential future work are listed. |
