Endovascular prothetics is a frequent procedure in the case of arterial sclerotic disease of the arterial bed of different disposition. The following factors are necessary for the correct performance of the implant: biological intertness and reendothelization of the internal surface of the implanted stent. In the absence of bio-inertness of the constituents of the stent, these components can have a general toxic effect on the patient’s body. Incomplete re-endothelization of the inner surface of the stent may cause the formation of intra-stents thrombi (late thrombosis occurring more than 30 days after percutaneous intervention). The presence of such thrombi can dramatically worsen the quality of life of the patient (a life threatening complication). The paper demonstrates that the Ni-Ti stents with the surface modified with silicon ions have higher speed of re-endothelization process than in the case of commercial stents use. |
