Popis: | Two very successful clinical experiences are presented to illustrate each analyst’s preferred ways of engaging clinically with patients. In my discussion I contend that analysts’ preferred theories of therapy often drive the nature and texture of analytic engagement and that each analyst works best in the context of embracing those cherished theories. More specifically, I attempt to contrast psychoanalytic traditions that, on one hand, situate the analyst in a hierarchical parental role and, on the other hand, conceive of the analyst as more of a flawed peer. |
