Popis: The obesity epidemic is a global concern. It is expected that by 2030, countries such as the United States, Mexico, and England will have the highest increase in obesity rates in the world (OECD, 2017). Latinos are the largest and fastest-growing minority in the U.S. (Rosas et al., 2016) and have the highest prevalence of obesity when compared with other ethnicities (Hales et al., 2017). In 2016, immigrants accounted for 13.5% of the total U.S. population (Commodore-Mensah et al., 2018), with Mexicans the largest group of immigrants in the U.S. (Nwosu et al., 2014). The prevalence of obesity among immigrants is alarming. An analysis of the 2010-2016 National Health Interview Survey showed immigrants from Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean had the highest prevalence of obesity and overweight in the U.S. when compared to European immigrants (Commodore-Mensha et al. 2018). Obesity-related behaviors such as the increase in sedentarism and high energy-dense food consumption are related to the length of residency in the U.S. (Agne et al. 2012). Therefore, it is important to develop interventions focusing on Latino immigrants. If we can understand Latino immigrants' eating habits during their transition in the U.S., we might help them to reduce the risk of weight gain and other obesity-related diseases. From a national survey, 75% of Latinos born outside of the U.S. reported having access to the internet occasionally on a cellphone or other mobile device (Brown et al., 2016). However, few m-health and e-health interventions for weight management have been developed for Latino immigrants. Research questions 1. Compare participants’ willingness to enroll in a tailored weight management program for Latinos vs. a non-tailored program. 2. Determine the preferred modality of a described weight management intervention (e.g., in-person, phone, email, app) among Latino immigrants. 3. Examine factors associated with interest in weight management treatments.
