The limited number of accidents that have occurred during transport of radioactive materials do not provide a large enough database for examining the effects of all potential transport conditions. Assessment of risk from transport programmes therefore depends on calculations, using a database for a larger group of transport activities. The computer code INTERTRAN 2 may be used to carry out the risk calculations. Generation of input data for INTERTRAN 2 can be a formidable task. Some of the data requirements are described and some of the sources that may be used in generating a set of input data are reviewed, for both incident-free and accident conditions of transport. |
