Traditional houses in Guanzhong region, known as the rarity of traditional Chinese construction art, has been generally recognized. The practices of modern transformation of the traditional houses in Guanzhong region have been an important research direction in the design of regional architecture. Furthermore, the "abstract-metaphor" mode has been widely adopted as one of the typical design modes by contemporary architects in the concrete operation of this research direction. Therefore, by integrating the theory into practice, this paper elaborates the contributing factors, principles, characteristics and limitations of this mode and proposes the reciprocal improvement principles, aiming at providing a guidance of methodology for the practice in modern transformation of the traditional houses in Guanzhong region. |
