Popis: | This paper presents an argument in support of the return to a "High-Low Mix" of naval platforms to support the ship-to-shore movement of combat power and logistics support by the US Navy. Definition of the High-Low Mix concept is offered in the context of the Navy Amphibious Warfare capabilities set, and possible impacts on force structure, doctrine, and acquisition strategy imposed by such a change are described. Impacts of technological advancements in supporting the affordable and sustainable development of the envisioned capabilities are suggested. In closing, necessary steps in the path to establishment of a revitalized set of High-Low Mix capabilities are highlighted and a nominal course of action recommended. |
