TG 52460754. The pottery from a sealed deposit in the centre of the old walled town is of considerable importance for our understanding of Norfolk medieval pottery as it demonstrates the type of local cooking-pots, bowls and jugs associated with decorated Grimston ware jugs from W Norfolk and imports from Scarborough, Northern France and Holland. All these fine decorated jugs from various sources should fall within the period AD 1250-1350. The local oxidised wares with their patches of internal glaze should be 14th cent in date, following on the grey reduced wares. As about 75% of the coarse wares are reduced, a date of c early 14th cent might be reasonable for this qroup. Au
