Popis: | Electro-active elastomer actuators have been widely studied, and many applications have been proposed for them. However, nearly all studies are focused on driving principle, structures, and control, and investigations on the mechanical properties and efficiency are insufficient. Using a strip-like actuator as a model case, this study revealed the maximum deformation, the relationship between driving force and deformation, and the maximum efficiency to provide a basic guide for the design of such actuators. First, the strains without mechanical constraints were studied, and the maximum strain was discussed under a linear assumption. Second, the displacement and driving force were analyzed considering the effects of electrodes and the margins of dielectric elastomer, and the results were compared. Finally, the electromechanical efficiency was investigated, and the approaches for improving efficiency were discussed. |
