Popis:	Members of the 16-membered macrolide antibiotic class show activity against Cryptosporidium and Toxoplasma gondii, which are associated with the acquired immune deficiency syndrome. Using carbomycin A as a substrate, we report a new semi-synthetic route for the production of forocidin.
