Popis: Eight soil-tillage practices were evaluated during the winter and spring of 196H7 for control of Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders). Best results were obtained where the top 6 inches of soil were thoroughly pulverized with a Howard Rotavator. Plowing with a moldboard plow to a depth of 6 inches (medium plowing) was more effective in reducing moth emergence than plowing to a depth of 12 inches (deep plowing) or chisel listing. Cultipacking medium-plowed soil resulted in no decrease in moth emergence, However, moth emergence was reduced considerably in the deep-plowed treatment when it was followed with cultipacking. A greater proportion of moth emergence was, i.e., the moths emerged after cotton began to square, in the treatments where the soil was plowed deeply.
