Popis: Objective: The objective of this scoping review is to synthesize what is known about mental health advanced practice nurses’ practice in the school-based setting and the outcomes related to their practice. Introduction: Mental health disorders in persons younger than 24 years old cost approximately 247 billion dollars annually, making it a notable burden to the health care industry. Suicide is now the second leading cause of death from ages 10 to 34 in the United States. Inclusion criteria: This scoping review will consider studies that include advanced practice nurses specializing in psychiatry/mental health, who are in the process of obtaining a degree in mental health, or those who have received training to treat persons with mental health disorders. The core concept of this review is the practice of these advanced practice nurses and the outcomes reported with their practice. Studies conducted in primary or secondary school-based healthcare settings in any geographic location will be considered for inclusion. Methods: The databases to be searched include MEDLINE (Pubmed), CINAHL (EBSCO), PsycINFO (EBSCO), and Embase (Elsevier). Sources of unpublished studies and gray literature include Web of Science (Clarviate Analytics), ProQuest Dissertations and Theses (ProQuest), and Mednar (Mednar.com). Articles published in English will be included with no date limit applied. Two independent reviewers will perform retrieval and review of full-text studies and data extraction. The results will be presented in diagrammatic or tabular format with a narrative summary.
