Popis: Synopsis Data are presented which illustrate the influence that reactive aggregate content, mix proportions and cement alkali content have upon the time to cracking and upon the subsequent expansion of mortar specimens stored in water at 20° C. It is shown that an assumption that the alkali-silica reaction is a two-stage process leads to predictions which are in general agreement with the observed expansion behaviour of mortars.
