Osmoactive preservation of brewer's yeasts

Popis: A technique is proposed for osmoactive preservation of spent brewer's yeasts. Complete preservation of yeasts was found to be assured by adding yeast pulp to beet molasses in a ratio of 1:1. A similar effect was obtained by adding 3% urea to yeast pulp. The preparations obtained may be considered as a source of proteins, carbohydrates and enzymes for animal feeds. The yeast preservations were obtained in a simple way which could be easily carried out on farms or directly in breweries. Further studies, especially nutritional ones, are now required to determine the nutritive value of these preparations and their combination into rations in a manner which would be both safe and economically reasonable.
