Popis: | We report the modification of Philippine natural zeolites by copper doping and its use in E. coli inactivation. Zeolite samples soaked in 25 wt. % Cu showed 40 mg/g uptake after 24 h. The samples were calcined at 400, 600, and 800°C for 2 h in order to prevent leaching of copper and increase its effectivity. The antibacterial efficiency was tested against E. coli by dilution of the sample in the suspension. Samples calcined at 400 and 600°C showed bacterial inhibition even at a very low concentration of 3 ppb while the sample calcined at 800°C showed no antibacterial inhibition. |
