Popis: | During 1956, 1957; and 1958 15 replicated field-plot insecticide- Comparison experiments were conducted in the Robertson- Burleson County area of south-central Texas to determine the Effectiveness of various insecticides for control of boll weevils, Anthonomus grandis Boh., resistant to chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticides. Guthion® ( O,O -dimethyl S -(4oxo-3 H - 1, 2, 3-benzotriazine- 3-methyl) phosphorodithioate), Sevin® (1-naphthyl methylcarbamate), and calcium arsenate dust were most effective in controlling these weevil populations. Methyl parathion and malathion effected good immediate kill of boll weevils but did not always prevent excessive weevil damage when applied at the customary 5-day interval. Chlorinated hydrocarbon materials varied considerably in relative effectiveness at the various locations but were generally the least effective of the insecticides used. All insecticides except Sevin were combined with DDT for bollworm control. |
