Popis: Numerous applications demand terabyte data storage capacities and data rates exceeding 1 gigabyte/sec (GB/s). The logical means of avoiding the wavelength bottleneck associated with conventional optical disks is by layering. In current state-of-the-art layered disk technology, semi-reflective-layers and depth of focus is used for addressing. The inherent problem with this approach is a loss of light, as high as 70% per semi-reflective layer.
