Popis: | Synopsis Examination of dykes in a c. 25 km2 area of the Caledonoid Etive dyke swarm (c. 400 Ma) reveals from matching contact re-entrants, oblique dyke offshoots, asymmetric dyke terminations, oblique bridges and actual dated fault displacements, that sinistral shear was associated with the dyke emplacement mechanisms. Larger scale en-echelon and stepping patterns confirm that sinistral shear was an important component in the intrusion of the swarm as a whole. |
