Popis: The authors present the architecture and design of the access networking system (ANS) used by Bell operating companies (BOC) to provide work center users with flexible, controlled access to the family of operations support systems (OSS) that comprise the automated repair service bureau (ARSB). ANS provides terminal and device communications capabilities through the Datakit virtual circuit switch. The basic building block of ANS is the Datakit applications processor module that provides a microprocessor and 2 Mb of memory for supporting user access, security, and transaction routing. ANS provides a platform for development of access management functions within the universal operations systems (UOS) architecture that will support the provision of universal information services (UIS) in the post-ISDN (integrated services digital network) environment. >
