Popis: | Purpose: To provide an overview of the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Secondary Conditions in Individuals with SCI. Methods: There are several limitations that have inhibited research on secondary conditions after spinal cord injury (SCI), including the lack of population-based studies and the lack of systematic study of common risk factors across secondary conditions. The Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC) uses a mixture of research, education and training, dissemination, and technical assistance to address secondary conditions after SCI. Three proposed studies will further the understanding of secondary conditions by addressing limitations of previous research. Along with the proposed research, training will take place at multiple levels, including undergraduate, graduate, and medical students, and in a diverse pool of health care providers.
