Popis: | The investigation has shown that the thin‐layer chromatographic technique is efficient in separating mixtures of dimethoate metabolites from soil extracts. Nine metabolites were isolated, six were positively identified as O, desmethyl dimethoate, dimethoate carboxylic acid, dimethyl dithiophosphoric acid, dimethyl thiophosphoric acid, dimethyl phosphoric acid and phosphoric acid. The remaining three were tentatively identified as two isomers of O, desmethyl‐oxycarboxy derivative and O, desmethylthiocarboxy derivative. All these metabolities inhibit the esterase enzyme of beef liver homogenate. Degradation of dimethoate in soil and solution is affected by hydrolysis followed by oxidation or oxidation followed by hydrolysis, resulting in dimethylphosphoric and/or phosphoric acids as the final degradation products. A proposed pathway of dimethoate degradation in the soil is outlined. |
