Popis: Summary The uses of mobile devices for computer tomography of the wood of standing trees have shown that the method and instrumentation are suitable for non-destructive, in field examination of tree trunks. The location dependent absorption coefficients of the trunk's section that can be determined depends on density and water content. The method can provide reliable evidence of all processes which directly or indirectly influence or alter these parameters, without any injury to the tree. In particular: fungal decay and its extent in the tree trunk, water pathways above the trunk cross section, the existence and extent of wet cores and other internal structures that influence the density of wood. Frost cracks and their number, strength and position of interior roots in trees in parks and streets can be detected easily.
