Popis: | We illustrate the effectiveness of high resolution Fermi surface (FS) mapping of the Bi-2212 based materials in the investigation of the electronic structure of the the high temperature superconductors. In particular, the advantages of the simultaneous combination of the Fermi surface mapping and energy distribution curve modes of angle-resolved photoemission will be illustrated in the elucidation of the normal state FS topology of these key systems as well as in the resolution of the recent controversy regarding the apparent photon energy dependence of the FS topology from photoemission. The true Fermi surface is, as physical intuition insiists, independent of photon energy, hole-like and takes the form of barrels centred at the (π,π) and (−π,π) points of the two dimensional Brillouin zone. |
