Popis: | This paper presents an overview of the global large-scale aspects of tropospheric ozone. It describes and quantifies the major sources of tropospheric ozone, namely stratospheric influx and tropospheric photochemistry, which today contribute on the order of 500 Tg O3/yr and 4000 Tg O3/yr, respectively. Photochemistry also provides the largest sink of tropospheric ozone. The tropospheric production of ozone is regulated by the presence of nitrogen oxides. The ensuing impact of anthropogenic emissions on the tropospheric burden, distribution and temporal trend of O3 is discussed. |
