Popis:	The field of speech communication has long been handicapped by inaccurate or incomplete descriptions of its subject matter in educational taxonomies. A new taxonomy, commissioned by the National Center for Education Statistics, promises significant improvement. It will include a category of Speech Communication with academic subdivisions that accurately reflect the content of the field. Principles and procedures for developing the classification system are discussed.
