Popis: The overall aim of this research project was to evaluate neural plasticity in the nociceptive input afferents and preganglionic sympathetic output neurons in autonomic dysfunction following spinal cord injury (SCI). Over the last three years, we have characterized the physiological changes in cardiovascular responses after cenicalspinalcord injury and matched those with anatomical chargers (spouting) in nociceptive cutaneous aferents compared to the basline physiology and anatomy of this system in normal animals. In regards to the preganglionic sympathetic output neurons, we have developed a monoaminergic receptor profile for these neurons and measured sensorimotor plasticly in those neurons in an in vitro preparation.
