Popis: Gerhard Konig, who since September 1976 is the managing editor of the 1969 founded ZDM Zentralblatt fur Didaktik der Mathematik (International Reviews on Mathematical Education), has celebrated his 60th birthday in Karlsruhe on May 21, 1999. Personally and on behalf of all members of ZDM-related groups, such as the Editorial Board, the Advisory Board, the Scientific Staff, the Group of External Contributors to the ZDM-Documentation Section, and – last not least – the members of the 1968 founded Association for the Furtherance of Didactics of Mathematics (Verein zur Forderung der Didaktik der Mathematik, Karlsruhe e. V.), I have congratulated him and returned our special thanks and our high respect to him for his cooperative and leading role, first in improving and further developing ZDM as a journal for documentation, analysis, and information; second, during the course of time, in building up a data-bank for didactics of mathematics (MATHDI) from the ZDM-documentation component, followed by its use online, then on the basis of CD-ROM and most recently by its representation on the Internet. This all is connected with the integration in 1980 of ZDM and its related activities into the big Fachinformationszentrum (FIZ) Karlsruhe, which in its first stages had already been negotiated very successfully by Hans Wasche, the pre-decessor and friend of Gerhard Konig, who continued to be his advisor in the years 1976 – 1980. During the last two decades Gerhard Konig’s working area has impressively extended. The electronic representation of a great deal of his work and products allows a new way of being present and communicative during conferences and congresses all over the world in the domains of mathematics and mathematics education. Also he has established working relations to scientific associations, such as the Gesellschaft fur Didaktik der Mathematik, with respect to their involvement in research, applications, teaching and examining students, graduate courses and doctoral programs, inservice courses for teachers etc., all based onhis specific sources and media for information and its usage. We need him for the future and therefore our deeply rooted wishes for: many happy returns!
