Popis: | A rapid and automated analysis was developed for the accurate determination of total aromatic hydrocarbons in lube base stocks by employing a liquid chromatography (LC) separation which is highly selective for aromatic hydrocarbons and the novel thermospray liquid chromatographic flame ionization detector (LC-FID). Generally, the accuracy For the determination of total aromatics in lube base stocks has improved over the industry standard silica gel procedure for the samples investigated. For a number of lubricant base stocks, particularly high viscosity, heavy oil «bright stocks», the more selective LC-FID method yielded signifiicantly more accurate results than a semiautomated silica gel method |
