This project explores the circumstances under which individuals are willing to accept intrusive government surveillance measures in response to emergencies. Using an experimental framework, we probe how the types of crises and expected duration of emergency powers condition support for measures. We also examine how treatment is conditioned by both exposure to the crisis and the quality of institutions.
