THE importance of green feed in the diet of poultry has been under discussion for many years. Most of the experimental work on this subject has been limited to testing the effect of the type of crop and the method of its preservation on laying hens. Only a limited amount of work has been done with growing chicks, and that work has been concerned largely with the subsequent production of the birds rather than with the growth of the chicks. A few reports have been made on the value of silage for laying hens, but no tests have been carried out to determine the value of this product for the growing chick.
