Popis: The thermal decomposition of ammonium uranate has been studied by infrared spectroscopy and x-ray diffraction. It has been shown that the ammonium ion remains in the solid and is then released as ammonia vapour upon heating up to 350°C. In the present work, we have attempted to establish the interrelationship between the structure of the products, the character of their infrared spectra and x-ray diffraction data capable of consistent interpretation in terms of defining the compounds derived from calcination of ammonium uranate at different heating rates and calcining temperatures.
