The development of equipment for the healthcare industry requires systematic management as, ac-cording to the standard of usability for medical equipment IEC 62366:2010, functional and non-functional data should be considered, in that order, aiming to develop safer and more effective products. However, non-functional requirements such as emotions caused to patients have not been fully covered, as tests are usually conducted under the technical vision. Non-functional requirements (related to emotional dimensions) can be exemplified with opinions on features, appearance, reactions (positive and negative) regarding the healthcare product. Thus, when patient is connected to the dialysis machine, satisfaction can be evaluated, from emotional aspects, through a scale of eight emotions. Thereby this work aims to identify which emotions are more present in the dialysis process, related to the hemodialysis machine, environment and procedures. A quantitative questionnaire was used to collect data from 117 patients from three different hemodialysis clinics in the city of Porto Alegre - Brazil. The result shows that the aspects of the machine, environment and procedures elicit negative, positive and neutral emotions in patients while hemodialysis session. In this context, it is essential to emphasize the importance of an evaluation on non-functional dimension, mainly the emotional aspects. Nonetheless to fully represent the patient, attention should be given to emotions elicited by the machine. Thus, one should concentrate efforts on improvement of aspects related to negative emotions. |
