Popis: THE failure to obtain growth of the female reproductive tract after treatment with estrogen in the absence of folic acid has been well established. Since the initial report of Hertz and Sebrell (1944) on the inability of estrogen to stimulate growth of the oviduct of folic acid deficient chicks, confirmation has been obtained with the use of both synthetic diets and folic acid analogues. This inhibition of the growth promoting action of estrogen on the female reproductive tract has been observed in the frog (Goldsmith, Schreiber and Nigrelli, 1948), the chick (Hertz and Sebrell, 1944; Hertz, 1945, 1948; Andrus and Zarrow, 1949), the rat (Hertz and Tullner, 1949) and the monkey (Hertz, 1948; Zarrow, Hisaw and Salhanick, 1949). The role of folic acid in androgen induced growth of the male accessories has not been so clearly defined. Goldsmith, Black and Nigrelli (1949) have reported a failure to obtain androgen stimulated growth of the prostate in folic acid deficient mice
