Popis: Catecholamines have myriad effects on behavior, depending on which catecholamine is measured (dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine) and their location (periphery or central nervous system). Epinephrine is the most prevalent catecholamine in the periphery; it is prevalent as a neurohormone produced from activation of the sympathoadrenal–medulliary (SAM) axis and produces physiological arousal characteristic of the stress response. Dopamine and norepinephrine are more abundant in the central nervous system as neurotransmitters involved in behaviors such as learning, mood, and movement.
