Popis: | The electrochemical oxidation of 1-phenylpyrazolidin-3-one in acetonitrile has been studied. Two oxidation waves were observed using cyclic voltammetry and these were found to be due to the oxidation of the protonated and neutral compound. Controlled potential electrolyses resulted in the isolation of two main components which were 1-phenylpyrazolin-3-one (75%) and 3-anilino-N-[4-(3-oxopyrazolin-l-yl)phenyl]propionamide (20%). The oxidative mechanism which results in these two products is discussed. |
