Popis: | Information Centric Networking (ICN), emerges as a suitable networking paradigm to address functional challenges of today’s overloaded Internet. Named Data Networking (NDN) architecture, as an ICN instance, appears as a promising candidate for next-generation Internet architecture. In addition, due to its reduced bandwidth requirements, NDN facilitates efficient content distribution, and hence, it is deemed suitable for supporting critical services such as multimedia streaming using standards like Dynamic Adaptive Streaming (DAS).Security and trust management in NDN are built on credential-based methods, i.e., based on cryptographic operations. However, the deployment of the default NDN defense means is restricted to the consumer-side, and it is insufficient against some attacks, such as bitrate oscillation attacks (BOAs). In this paper, we focus on investigating reputation-based trust as a means to reinforce the existing NDN security system. We present a novel reputation-based trust scheme which aims at mitigating BOAs. Evaluation results show that our proposed model manages to efficiently mitigate this type of attacks which cannot be alleviated by relying solely on NDN’s default security system. |
