Popis: | Growth as 14-day larval weight in two strains of Tribolium castaneum was studied in a factorial design involving two levels of humidity and three levels of nutritional ingredients: dried brewers' yeast, soybean meal, a vitamin premix, and corn oil. Significant differences between genotypes and levels of nutritional ingredients were observed. Larval weight increased considerably with the addition of dried brewers' yeast and decreased with the addition of corn oil. Genotypes interacted with levels of humidity and various ingredients and interactions were observed between most nutritional ingredients. Supplementation of the basal diet with 5% dried brewers' yeast apparently satisfied all deficiencies whereas the addition of soybean meal and (or) vitamins alleviated only part of the deficiencies of the diet. |
