Popis: | The article reports on a study by Joel Lefkowitz concerning de facto segregation and job placement at a privately-owned commercial bank. A pattern of congruent racial assignments--where white and black employees were assigned to supervisors who were of their race--was found while examining the validity of employment testing. However, the bank management had no intention to discriminate. Lefkowitz concluded that the de facto segregation was the result of a likes-attracting-likes interaction, which he called “ethnic drift.” |
