Photographic plates investigation of the high-energy particles interaction with lead nuclei

Popis: The lateral distribution of electrons in showers generated in lead by nuclear active particles of high energy was studied using electron-sensitive photographic plates. The plates were placed on a special apparatus under a 10 cm thick lead absorber. The apparatus consisted of two trays of ionization chambers having a length of 90 cm and a diameter of 4 cm. The experiment was performed at an altitude of 3200 m above sea level. The lateral distribution of particles in a shower is plotted for six high-enengy events. Total particles in the events range from 403 to 1973. (A.C.)
