Popis: 1. Infant mortality of British India ranks among the highest in the world. 2. During 1926–35 there is no indication of infant mortality declining in India. 3. Different parts of India exhibit heterogeniety in regard to their infant mortality experience. 4. Although in India infant mortality is not declining as a whole, neo-natal mortality shows some tendency to decline within recent years. 5. Infant mortality in Bombay City is found to be closely associated with overcrowding. It is suggested that this may be due to the large incidence of diseases which are the causes of post-natal mortality and which are supposed to be associated with social and environmental factors.
