Popis: The classical statistics dominated data analysis in astronomy until very recently. Bayesian arguments are slowly entering the field. Dr. Loredo introduces these techniques through several examples of interest to astronomers. One should exercise caution in using Bayesian methods. His priors, at least in the examples, do not seem to depend on any “prior additional” information. Quite a lot depends on how the qualitative and quantitative additional information is converted into workable prior distributions.
