In this study we investigate how people update their beliefs based on ambiguous scientific evidence. Specifically, we compare effects of simultaneous and sequential presentation of evidence and belief updating, effects of different presentation orders, and various predictors of belief updating. In a previous study (Schreiner et al., 2023) we found peoples’ subjective expertise regarding a topic to be negatively associated with belief updating and peoples’ trust in (psychological) science and scientific literacy to be positively associated with belief updating. We aim to replicate these results in the current study. |
