Popis: Human beings are shaped by the societies they grow up in. Whenever a person makes a decision, we know that those decisions are guided by social norms. Consequently, there may be an overall impact of society and culture on the outcomes of firms that are managed by these decision makers. In this paper, we are interested in understanding the level of such an impact on the inventory management decisions. We find that societies with high future-orientation, assertiveness, humane-orientation, and gender-egalitarianism tend to make optimally low and tighter inventory management decisions whereas those with high uncertainty-avoidance and collectivism choose to hold greater levels of inventory.
