Popis: | SWCA Environmental Consultants (SWCA) conducted a full-coverage archaeological survey of a 500-acre parcel of land administered by the Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) in the Town of Marana (Town) for a proposed regional park. Because the land is administered by Reclamation, the Town of Marana retained SWCA to conduct the survey as the second step in aiding Reclamation in complying with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. SWCA had previously conducted a Class I archaeological records search for the parcel under contract with the Town (Barr 2007). The results of the records search (summarized below under Previous Research) indicated that three archaeological resources had been recorded during earlier projects and that portions of the property had been surveyed, but not within the past 10 years. SWCA recommended a complete survey of the parcel according to the current standards of the Arizona Antiquities Act, as administered by the Arizona State Museum (ASM). The Town and Reclamation concurred with the recommendation, and the Town contracted SWCA to perform the survey. The survey was completed under SWCA’s Arizona Antiquities Blanket Permit No. 2007-023bl and Reclamation PXAO ARPA Permit 2007-003. At the request of Reclamation, all original project-related documentation will be curated with other Reclamation collections at the Huhugam Heritage Center under SWCA Project No. 12477. Site records will be submitted to AZSITE, and a copy of the documentation and report will be filed at the ASM under Accession No. 2007-0091. The project has also been assigned Town of Marana Project No. 2006-44. |
