Popis:	Reactions of arylpropargyl amides of fumarate with a base by heating in xylenes under air gave benz[f]isoindolines. Heating the amides of fumarate and ethenetricarboxylate in DMSO gave aroyl-substituted pyrrolidines, probably via addition of water.
