The 3D effects, induced by two symmetrical endplates upon the flow around variously shaped and impulsively started cylinders at Re=1000, are evidenced by means of three complementary experimental methods of visualization. Comparative data, such as the vorticity propagation velocity along the spanwise direction, or the evolution of topological and kinematical parameters of the near wake in a specific cross-section, have been deduced. From streamline and streakline patterns, the change from two-to three-dimensional flow configuration has also been estimated, showing the influence of the body shape upon the 3D effect manifestation. |
