Popis: Chronic epigastric pain is a very common problem in clinical practice. This paper tries to provide a way to the right diagnosis of this kind of disorders. A full history is essential to do an appropriate diagnosis. There are several diseases that cause chronic pain. The aim is to discern if the trouble has an organic basis like peptic ulcer disease or gastroesofageal reflux disease, or it has a functional origin like functional dyspepsia. Most of the dyspepsia guidelines suggest to do an upper endoscopy in people over 45 years due to increased risk of gastric cancer find. In younger patients, standing in an area of high prevalence H. pylori infection it would be advisable to start with the realization of a non-invasive detection of H. pylori.
