Fossil fuels have been the source of energy for transportation for many decades. However, the exploitation of fossil fuels in these massive sectors have been a major contributing factor for the grave issue of climate change. Thus, it is necessary to bring about a change in the transportation for clean and sustainable utilization. The electrification of the transport sector provides the solution to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions. For electrification, the source of power generation and distribution must be clean and cost effective. In this paper, we will discuss how the combination of Photovoltaics for power generation and Lithium-ion batteries for storage can provide the most efficient and cost-effective solution for the smooth transition to electrification of the transport sector. |
